Suffragan Bishop Winston D. Thompson

Suffragan Bishop Winston D. Thompson was born in Manchester, Jamaica West Indies and is the fourth of eight siblings. He was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the Holy Ghost at the age of nineteen. While in Jamaica, he worked as a Supervisor at Public Works for the Jamaican Government. In 1969, he migrated to the United States to develop his vocational skills.
Suffragan Bishop Thompson attended the Mt. Zion Tabernacle Church in Evanston, IL, pastored by the late Elder John Groves and subsequently became a member of the Ebenezer House of Prayer under the pastorate of the late Henry D. Ball. He worked in many capacities in the church and succeeded Elder Ball to the pastorate in 1977. Under his leadership, the church outgrew its original location and the Lord blessed the church with the new location at 911 West 50th Place in Chicago, IL with ample room to grow. Suffragan Bishop Thompson continues to labor in the ministry and his vision for the church is coming to pass.
Suffragan Bishop Thompson is an Ordained Minister for the PAW, and he is a member of the Executive Board of the Illinois District Council (IDC) under the leadership of the Honorable Bishop Horace E. Smith, M.D. Suffragan Bishop Thompson served eight years as Chairman of the Pastor’s Alliance in the IDC. In 1999, Suffragan Bishop Thompson received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from Gospel Ministries Outreach Theological Institute. Suffragan Bishop Thompson is the former President of the New City Ministers’ Alliance. He held that position for ten years and continues to serve on its board as a Director and Advisor. He is involved with the New City (Englewood) community.
Suffragan Bishop Thompson was married to Evangelist Mary L. Thompson (42 years) and the father of three children (Evonne, Evette, and Aaron), adopted daughter, Sonia, daughter-in-law, Josephine, and grandfather of two (Winston Tyler and Aaron Joshua)
